Digital literature is a quickly growing field. Every day people publish new digital literary works on the web. And every day people publish writings that attempt to appreciate, evaluate and understand digital literary works. The problem is that because the web is so vast, and because it takes a while for web publications to become indexed and searchable, it can be hard to find the latest digital literary works and digital literary criticism.
This is where you come in. College students today are the experts when it comes to the latest trends and publications on the web, as well as the latest technology used to find and read documents online. So in this class you will be put to work doing research. You will be searching the web for the latest publications for the benefit of the rest of the class.
You will do this as part of your team. Your team will be assigned to a particular topic. Individually you will do research, then meet with your team to discuss your findings. Then your team will present your findings to the rest of the class, according to the schedule on the class syllabus.
The instructor will also be working with your team, giving you suggestions about search terms, databases, etc.
In a sense you will be helping to compile an electronic reader for this class, based on materials already published on the web but not yet found. Your job is to find them.
